OPENING CEREMONY OF KISHTWAR CARROM BOARD COMPETITION AT KISHTWAR UNDER OPERATION SADHBHAVANA
Kishtwar dated 22 July 2022: The Army has been at the forefront in its effort to promote games and sports in the valley. With an aim to infuse sportsmanship and camaraderie among the youth of Kishtwar as also to channelize their energies and positively engage the youth, Helipad Battalion of Indian Army has organized Kishtwar Carrom Board Competition for the youth of Kishtwar on 22 July 2022.
The event generated immense enthusiasm among the locals wherein 180 students from various schools of District Kishtwar participated in the competition. The competition is a 10 days event and will be conducted in four categories namely under fourteen, under seventeen, under nineteen and open category. The wining participants will get access to district level competition and further will represent the district at state level competitions. The intense carrom duels and contests between striker and carrom coins would inevitably entice to draw large crowds to the venue in all the league matches. The competition will provide a perfect platform to the youth of Kishtwar to showcase their performance and hone their skills.
Speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony District Youth and Sports Services, Officer, Mr Kherati Lal Sharma highlighted the benefits of the said tournament, encouraged the participants and thanked the Indian Army for organising this tournament. It is pertinent to mention that the Army has been organizing different sporting events under Operation Sadhbhavana to divert the energy of the youth towards a positive direction. The principal’s and parents present for the occasion expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Army for organizing this event and appealed for more such events in the future to nurture the sporting talent in Kishtwar.
