Govt. Degree College Bhaderwah Organized a Webinar on World Environment Day
PG Department of Chemistry in collaboration with Science Club, IQAC & ECO Club, Govt. Degree College Bhaderwah organized a webinar on the theme “Beat the Plastic Pollution” on 5th of June 2023 as a part of the celebration of the world Environment Week under the aegis of G20 & Mission LiFE. The webinar was organised by Prof. Mohd Yaseen Sirwal under the patronage of Prof. Kuldeep K. Sharma, Principal GDC Bhaderwah who welcomed the resource people & the participants. Two lectures were delivered during the webinar. The first lecture was delivered by Prof. Naik Yaseera, Assistant Professor-Environmental Science GDC (Boys) Anantnag. Prof. Yaseera enlightened the participants about the different aspects of plastic pollution, fate of plastics in environment & the harmful effects of the overuse of plastics on the environment especially to marine ecosystem & the control measure which must be taken to reduce this menace. The lecture stimulated the minds of the participant listeners to take plastic seriously & take the necessary measures to minimize the use of plastics, also adopt new & green habits to reduce plastic footprints. The second lecture was delivered by Dr. Sehrish Gazal, HOD – Environmental Science GDC Kishtwar. Dr. Sehrish Gazal delivered an important lecture on the theme “Mission life” which is the largest public moment to mobilize people to adopt sustainable life on the planet earth. During the lecture, the resource person talked about the reforms which must be taken under mission life to transform the environment, three phases of the mission life viz., change in demand, change in supply & change in policy. The resource person also discussed different themes of mission life & steps which must be taken to save energy, save water, adopt sustainable food systems, reduce waste, reduce e waste, adopt healthy lifestyle. The lectures were followed by a brief Q&A session. The webinar was moderated by Mohd Yaseen Sirwal, Convener Science Club & HOD Chemistry.Dr Irshad Ahmed wani & Prof Ankush Kumar acted as organising secretaries of the event. Dr. Irshad Ahmad Wani,convener Research Development Cell (RDC) culminated the event by proposing the vote of thanks.
