GDC Bhaderwah in collaboration with Pollution Control Committee Doda organizes seminar on World Environment Day
A seminar on the eve of World environment day on the theme “Beat the plastic pollution” was organized by Science club, Seminar/Debate Committee and IQAC of the college in collaboration with Pollution Control Committee Doda, under the patronage of Dr. Kuldeep Kumar Sharma, Principal of the college.
The special guest of the occasion Dr. Mohan Snehi, Divisional Officer, Pollution Control Committee Doda, discussed at length the various types of plastics in daily usage and the hazardous impacts of the same which the future generations are bound to face if proper management and effective solutions are not implemented for the redressal of this grave threat.
The chief guest of the occasion, Dr. Kuldeep Kumar Sharma, Principal of the college asked to students to come forward with innovative solutions in order to mitigate the nuisance of plastic pollution. He stressed upon the audience to practice the policy of three R’s (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) which has already been proved to be an efficient management technique.
It is pertinent to mention that the programme was organized by Prof. Mohd. Yaseen Sirwal, Convenor Science Club and Seminar/Debate Committee, Prof. Ankush Kumar and Dr. Irshad Ahmed Wani in the capacity of organizing secretaries, Prof. Pinki Kotwal and Prof. S. S Parihar, Convenor IQAC and HOD Economics. A pledge taking ceremony in this connection was also undertaken by all the participants and the same was administered by Prof. Pinki Kotwal.
The seminar was attended by Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed, Prof. BP Singh, Dr. Sandeep Kotwal, Prof. Prithvi Raj, Prof. Naz Zarger, Prof. Verinder Singh, Prof. Manzoor Ahmed, Dr. Reyaz Ahmed, Prof. Arjun Kotwal, Prof. Vijay Kumar, Prof. Jaideep Kumar, Prof. Sandesh Kumar, Prof. Ashwani Kumar, Prof. Qasim Mir, Prof. Shabaz Ahmed, Sh. Zakir Ali (PTI) and members from non-teaching staff. More than 150 students participated in the seminar. The proceeding of the event was carried by Prof. Mohd. Yaseen Sirwal, whereas the vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Surinder Parihar.
