Badarwah : Chemistry Department of Govt. PG Degree College Bhaderwah conducts Educational tour for PG students to various Universities of Kashmir
An educational tour was conducted by Post Graduate Department of Chemistry of Govt. PG Degree College Bhaderwah w.e.f 28-05-2023 to 01-06-2023 for the students of semester IV of PG Chemistry to various institutes of Kashmir under the patronage of Dr. Kuldeep Kumar Sharma, Principal of the college. The aim of this visit was to provide the students with the much needed exposure to the high end equipments and state of the art technologies in order to motivate them for pursuing research in array of thrust areas of science and technology.
The tour commenced with a visit to the Department of Chemistry and Department of Nanotechnology in University of Kashmir followed by a visit to Department of Chemistry and Department of Food Technology in Islamic University of Science and Technology, Awantipora.
During the tour to these institutes, the visiting students interacted with the faculty and scholars and learned about the various recent advancements in the field of research such as drug design, organometallics, nano-fabrication, polymer packing, isolation of natural products, thermodynamic and kinetic aspects of solute-solvent interaction, food technology processes etc . After this mind boggling session, the students along with the staff visited the laboratories. The students were given demonstrations and hands on training on the working of some high end instruments such as HPLC, FTIR, Double beam UV-Vis spectrophotometer, TGA, Nano 3D printer, Rheometer, Tensiometer, Densitometer, Rotary Evaporator, and Calorimeter etc. In addition to this, student also visited laboratories for cell culture and studies on biological activities.
Prof. Mohd. Yaseen Sirwal, HOD Chemistry, Prof. Ankush Kumar and Dr. Irshad Ahmed Wani of GDC Bhaderwah interacted with the faculty of these departments in separate sessions for exchange of knowledge and resources. The visit provided an opportunity for the institutions to chalk out the plans for future collborations in terms of academics, research and extensions in the interest of both the institutions.
Prof. Renuka Goria, Dr. Shakeel Ahmed Ganie, Dr. Sajood Ahmed Bhat and Ms. Monika also accompanied the students on the tour.
