DLSA Kishtwar organised awareness on Victims of Drug Abuse and Eradication of Drug Menace, Scheme, 2015
Kishtwar: District Legal Service Authority Kishtwar today organised awareness programme on Drug Abuse at Government Girls High School Sanghmbhata Kishtwar.
Chief Judicial Magistrate/ Principal Magistrate Juvenile Justice Board Kishtwar, Sh. Mahmud Anwar Alnasir was the chief guest of the function.
During the program, he stressed on channelizing the energy of students in the positive direction by encouraging activities through sports, education and drug de-addiction drives.
He spoke on the consequences and harmful effects of drug abuse. He also highlighted the NDPS act (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act) and legal punishment for illicit trafficking and abusing of drugs causing drug menace in the region.
He said they should feel fortunate enough that they have the facilities of education. Though education is free till the age of 14 yet there are millions of kids who are still devoid of this basic fundamental right. He stressed that these are weak souls who succumb to such menace as drugs or addiction to any substance abuse. He told these young kids to be vigilant and not become couriers in their innocence and do not carry things for strangers Or deliver them.
He urged the students to spread maximum awareness among people regarding drug abuse and don’t let the drugs destroy them, their family and the country.
He said youth were made aware that they are the future of the nation and were exhorted to stay away from the drug abuse and direct their energies towards constructive activities and character building.
During the programme, the resource persons were including Sh. Naveed khurshid ( Dy Chief LADC Kishtwar) , Adv. Suman Bhandari , Adv. Pooja and Legal cum Probationary Officer, DCPU Kishtwar Mission Vatsalya Basharat Nazir also spoke on the occasion and made participants aware of the risks of drug abuse and its repercussions on the society and national security.
